Today we are excited to share with you this delicious Barbera from self proclaimed "Baberista" Fabrizio Iuli, a man whose love, focus, and dedication for the varietal can be tasted through his wine. Located in the far north of Monferrato lies Iuli's winery in the small town of Montaldo di Cerrina. So small in fact that less than 100 people reside there. Fabrizio, the only winemaker in town, prides himself on protecting biodiversity and produces certified organic wines that are unfined and unfiltered. The wines are Piedmontese to the core with wonderful drinkability, solid complexity, and aged in cement tanks. With the goal of making concentrated wines that remain light on their feet with a subtle floral quality, Iuli hits it out of the park with his 2018 Umberta Barbera. A small production, this red is a crowd-pleaser at a friendly price you don't want to miss!
Juicy, fleshy, and delicious, Iuli Umberta Barbera is a wine you tell your friends about. Wonderful quality paired with great drinkability, this red delivers a fruit-forward nose with hints of violet into a juicy palate of plum and licorice. This is how you want Barbera to taste! A great food wine, we suggest pairing this with pork, game meat, or a mushroom-based pasta.
